Ashley baked us a wonderful batch of fresh blueberry muffins from scratch and Ryan was busy getting his chores done before school.

First day of school!!!

Date Festival

Fun day at the Date Festival!  Lots of animals to look at and enjoy.  We watched pig races (hilarious).  They raced around a track to get to the prize, which was a single oreo on a silver platter.  The audience was divided by color/cheering sections =-)

The kids loved all the baby animals.  The petting zoo had some very exotic creatures, like the Cavies from South America.  They looked like a cross between giant rodents and kangaroos.  Water Buffalo, Yaks, Lamas were a few other interesting critters in there.  Sea Lions were fun to watch too.

Both kids sat in Border Patrol cars, complete with flashing lights and sirens.

Nobody went too nuts on the junk food.  Ryan is in love with Cotton Candy, Ash just wanted a vanilla swirly cone.  The deep fried zucchini was pretty darned good, I must say.  We passed on the deep fried Twinkie's!

Air Force LOL

I saw this posted on Mo's Facebook wall and thought it was pretty funny!  =-)

The Airman, Altus AFB Oklahoma

Mo sent me this pic which was taken during his first week at Altus AFB.  Sorry, I did try to enlarge it.  He is second from the left.  He got to do a ride along while they refueled two planes in mid air and said it was awesome!  After a few weeks of briefings, more training, and testing he finally "made flight" and has begun working.  His schedule is 10pm-6am, four days on and two off.  Good thing he is a night owl, so it works out pretty well.   Miss that guy!

New project: The Ant Farm

We added an Ant Farm this week and those guys are busy!  Ryan is really fascinated and can't wait to check them right when he gets up to see what they've done during the night.

We now have all five Painted Lady butterflies in our pavilion and will be releasing them later this week.  They are quite pretty, but the fluttering drives Jazzie nuts =(

Our Butterfly Pavilion

It's a preemie!  After only 6 days, our first beautiful Painted Lady Butterfly has arrived.  Usually the chrysalid stage is 7-10 days, so we were very surprised today!  Four more to go...

My World...

Airman Perkins, Morgan D.  He sent me this text right before his graduation ceremony from Tech School.  Lackland AFB, Military Police.  He has been assigned to Altus, AFB as of this month.  Made this old mom cry ;~)

Ashley Jewell, the horse lover!  Horses are her passion.   Drawing, painting, riding them-all things horses. "That's my girl" <3

Ryan James AKA The Little Monkey.  Never a dull moment here.  He is one passionate little guy! Lol
